The Shelter Needs Help
Last year, United Family Services Shelter for Battered Women turned away three times as many women and children as it was able to admit. Public and private supporters have embarked on a campaign for a larger shelter but more must be done.

The Scoop on Jennifer and Volleyball
Jennifer Roberts is a member of the Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners. Among other sports, she played volleyball at East Mecklenburg High School and UNC Chapel Hill and believes athletics are fundamental to women’s health and esteem.
